MCI-West senior leaders establish innovative installation funding method
Senior leaders from Marine Corps Installations West participate in a discussion over a future project within the region during the first Western Regional Installations and Infrastructure Investment Board on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 26, 2020. The investment board brought together senior leaders from across MCI-West to introduce a new method of communicating the priority of future projects within the region. This new method is designed to save time and taxpayer money by streamlining the process for approval, while also communicating the priority of all projects for all MCI-West installations. Operation Wild Buck: U.S. Marines and the 196th California Air National Guard work together during UAS proof of concept
U.S. Marines from Marine Corps Installations-West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, 1st Marine Division and airmen from the 196th California Air National Guard conducted Operation Wild Buck, to test the use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to monitor Camp Pendleton wildlife populations and develop tactics, techniques, and procedures for using UAS during emergency operations on Camp Pendleton California, Dec. 18,2018.There were two different UAS flown during the exercise, RQ-20B Puma which was controlled on the ground at Camp Pendleton, and the second was a high-flying, RQ-9 Reaper, launched from Las Vegas and controlled via satellite link from March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, CA. Both UAS sent back video feeds to Camp Pendleton’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), where installation leadership observed and coordinated the operation. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl.
