U.S. Marine Sgt. Sean O'Keefe, a motor vehicle operator with 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, talks about his path to becoming a Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival. Every Marine is expected to maintain a high level of physical fitness regardless of age, rank, or occupation. Over the last few years, the Marine Corps has developed methods like the Force Fitness program, high intensity tactical training and the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program to help ensure Marines are both physically fit and combat ready. U.S. Marines stationed on Camp Pendleton train for this year's Military World Games. This year's games will be hosted in Wuhan, China, from Oct. 18-28. The games consist of multiple countries competing in over 20 sporting events. The Marines selected to compete for Team USA are competing in basketball and swimming. 1st Lt. Leah Pollard was recognized as the Camp Pendleton Female Athlete of the Year on Dec. 6, 2017. Pollard participated in the High Intensity Tactical Training Athlete Championship where she placed fourth against all female competitors. The Marine Corps Installations - West, Headquarters & Support Battalion Spartans football team from Camp Pendleton, Calif., traveled to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center - 29 Palms for the MCCS "Best of the West" Football Championship against 1st Tanks Battalion Dec. 2, 2017.
