Camp Pendleton Fire Department supports Mendocino firefighting efforts

Firefighters with the Camp Pendleton Fire Department (CPFD) were called to assist with the Mendocino Complex Fire in Mendocino County, California, from July 27 to Aug. 21. 2018. The Mendocino Complex Fire was the largest fire in state history and was battled by a total of approximately 3,500 firefighters. (U.S. Marine Corps Video by Cpl. Dylan Chagnon)

Making the breaks

Regional firefighters began refreshing Camp Pendleton's 164 miles of firebreaks designed to control fires on the installation year-round. Preparing for and preventing wildfires

Chief John Crook, Camp Pendleton Fire Department deputy chief, speaks on Marine Corps Installations-West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton's concept of preparedness, response and effort in the event of a wildfire on base or its surrounding communities. Each year, Camp Pendleton conducts several training events to remain prepared in the event of a wildfire or if requested to support fire fighting efforts off the installation.
