U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Freddy Torres, a native of Tucson, Arizona, speaks about his experiences as the chief instructor for multiple professional military education courses for Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, on Camp Pendleton, Sept. 26, 2019. Torres joined the Marine Corps in 2006 as in infantryman. Before serving with H&S Bn., he served with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st MARDIV. U.S. Marines with Lance Corporal Seminar Class 4-19 conduct a physical fitness session at Engineer’s Hill in the 14 Area on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Sept. 11, 2019. The class, hosted by Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, conducted a memorial physical training session in honor of the 2,977 lives lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. 2018 Semper Ride Expo and Poker Run
2018 Semper Ride Expo and Poker Run at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 5, 2018. The expo consisted of a closed course loop around MCB Camp Pendleton which had pre-designated stations where the riders chose a card for the best poker hand. The event culminated with a motocross demonstration and free prize giveaways. Semper Ride is a partnership between Headquarters Marine Corps Safety Division and Marine Corps Community Services that brings awareness to motorcycling the right way through action-packed riding events, as well as the expo that is open to all active and retired service members, their families and civilian employees. Marines run 242 miles to celebrate birthday
Headquarters and Support Battalion hosted a 242 mile run and cake cutting ceremony in celebration of the Marine Corps' 242nd birthday. Marines from each company took turns running two miles in teams until they reached 242. The event provided a safe and motivational way to celebrate the Marine corps' birthday. Approximately 2000 Marines and Sailors participated in the 2016 World Famous Mud Run by Lake O'Neill here, June 3. The race was part of the Commanding General's Cup and covered 6.2 miles. The race included a number of obstacles such as mud pits, jumping over walls and a slippery uphill climb.
