Marines navigate their way through Week 4 of IMC
U.S. Marines with Alpha Company, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry - West, participate in land navigation training as part of Week 4 of the Infantry Marine Course on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 15-19th, 2021. IMC is a 14-week pilot course designed to create better trained and more lethal entry-level infantry Marines prepared for near-peer conflicts. The course uses a redesigned learning model for students intended to develop their capabilities for independent and adaptive thought and action. The program of instruction for IMC has been in development for a year and follows guidance from the 2019 Commandant's Planning Guidance and Force Design 2030. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt. You Need It, We Got It
Camp Pendleton serves as a crucial component in Marine Corps training, providing over 100,000 acres of land exclusively for training, 84 live fire ranges, and four amphibious landing beaches. Assets like these are what make possible large scale training operations like Operation Dawn Blitz, strengthening our chemistry with allied nations and enabling the Marine Corps to be ready to answer our nation’s call in its time of need. Introduction to the Landing Force Operations Center
The landing force operations center is maintained by Marine Corps Tactical System Support Activity on Camp Pendleton, Calif., and replicates sea-based systems normally seen on U. S. Navy ships, allowing Marines to improve their understanding, command and control mediums by testing them in a simulated environment. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Michael LaFontaine)
