Firefighters with the Camp Pendleton Fire Department, along with representatives from fire departments across Southern California, conduct an incident command exercise at the wastewater treatment plant in the 20 Area on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 9, 2022. The incident command exercise was part of a six-week hazardous material course hosted by CPFD. Graduates of the course become certified HAZMAT specialists and meet California’s training requirements for personnel to be part of a HAZMAT emergency response team outside of Department of Defense installations. Pendleton Marines, FBI train to investigate VBIED blasts
FBI agents and U.S. Marine explosive ordnance disposal technicians learn to investigate large vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonation sites at Range 800 on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, as part of the Large Vehicle Bomb Post Blast Analysis course, Jan. 24-27, 2022. The course focused on collecting attack-related material such as device components, casualty information and explosive residue following a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack. Operation Slow Down: Slow down or start walking
The commanding general of Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, announced the beginning of "Operation Slow Down" in December 2021, in an effort to address increased instances of speeding, reckless driving and the motor vehicle accidents they cause. As part of the new initiative, the consequences for speeding and reckless driving aboard the installation have become harsher.
