U.S. Marines with the All-Marine Softball Teams, both male and female, participate in a scrimmage at the 14 Area Softball Fields at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, August 2, 2024. These teams are comprised of Marines who travel to Camp Pendleton for tryouts and practice sessions, ultimately competing in the Armed Forces Softball Tournament in Oklahoma. The All-Marine Sports Program has produced athletes who have achieved national rankings and even represented the United States in the Olympics. U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller, 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps, authorized both the Dual 300 Award and Force Fitness Unit Award in July, 2018. In order to receive the Dual 300 Award, a Marine must score 300 on both the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Combat Fitness Test (CFT), while the Force Fitness Unit Award goes to the unit with the highest, combined fitness score average.
