Camp Pendleton Fire Department and Cal Fire worked together to fight the Creek Fire that blazed in Fallbrook and the installation beginning Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020. U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Kyle Wetter, an infantry unit leader with Marine Crops Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, rescues a baby from a burning vehicle on Mission Road in Fallbrook, California, Dec. 7, 2020. Wetter was going East-bound when he came across a burning vehicle, as Wetter approached the vehicle, he saw the father and mother attempting to get their baby out of the back of the car, the baby was in a car seat and trapped by the seat belt, that is when Wetter climbed in the back of the car and pulled a knife out and cut the seatbelt, safely rescuing the baby. U.S. Marines from multiple units participated in a Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition match at Edson Range on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Nov. 1-11, 2020. The competition at Pendleton is the first in a series scheduled for Marine bases around the world as part of the 2021 Competition-In-Arms Program, which will end with a championship match on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. Religious services have been cancelled on Camp Pendleton in response to the coronavirus outbreak and the need for social distancing. To continue their work in promoting service members’ spiritual fitness, many chaplains on base have started digital teleministries as a replacement for their normal services or congregations.
