F-35s hot-pit refuel at MCAS Camp Pendleton
Two U.S. Marine F-35B Lightning II aircraft with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, refuel at the hot pit on Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 7, 2021. The air station and the squadrons housed there provide aviation support that enables I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton tenant commands and visiting units to maintain and enhance their mission capabilities and combat readiness. While the air station primarily supports rotary wing and tiltrotor aircraft, it is also capable of supporting jets like the F-35B. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Stephen Beard)

Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton: More than just vertical lift
A demonstration of the strategic lift capability at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Camp Pendleton, California, Dec. 18, 2018. In addition to reducing time on the road transporting personnel and equipment, MCAS Camp Pendleton’s ability to host strategic airlift provides a secluded and centralized location for movement of cargo to exercises and real world operations without impacting roadway traffic or telegraphing intent. Supporting the warfighter, MCAS CPEN
Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton maintains the facilities, equipment and properties by conducting training and operations in support of I Marine Expeditionary Force, base tenants and international partners. Every minute of flight time has hundreds of Marines supporting the effort. Whether that's it is plane captain taxing the aircraft, the maintenance controller declaring the aircraft safe for flight, the maintainer keeping the aircraft running or the air traffic controller, their mission is to support the warfighter.
